StepWise Utility Advisors will release a new service package aimed at providing the firm’s clients an economical way to address their water and sewer rate setting needs on an ongoing basis. Called ‘Rate Lock’, the new service will provide water and sewer utility managers a rate setting process that establishes a customized platform that StepWise can update each year. Fees for the new service are scalable based on the number of customers served.
“We’re repackaging the way in which our services are provided,” says StepWise’s president, Jason Mumm. “We respect the fact that our clients’ rate setting needs are important and that they need solutions they can afford from consultants they can trust. Our new services will work with utilities from metropolitan areas to rural farming communities because we’ve scaled the cost of these services to fit the need.”
StepWise is piloting the service now and plans to release it nationally in the next few months. Once it’s released, Mumm says, “water and sewer utilities will finally have an option for outsourcing their rate setting needs in a way that makes sense for their budgets.”

StepWise has been engaged to study the City’s water rates, utility expansion charges, low-income credit program (for water rate discounts) and cost-of-service allocations. StepWise’s president, Jason Mumm, made the presentation. The event was covered by the local media, The Santa Fe New Mexican reporting.
