StepWise Utility Advisors is proud to be a Gold Sponsor for the upcoming Wyoming Association of Municipalities conference in Sheridan, Wyoming. The conference will run from June 8 through June 10th. We will be participating in all of the conference activities and presenting a 90-minute presentation during the technical session. Jason Mumm, president of StepWise Utility Advisors, and consultant Fletcher Davis will be the main presenters. The title of the presentation is: “Ahead of the Curve: Beating the Infrastructure Funding Gap with Sustainable Utility Management Practices.”
Financing the normal repair, replacement, and retirement of water and sewer infrastructure is major issue of local governments. The US Conference of Mayors reports that local spending on water and sewer infrastructure will quadruple in the next 20 years. The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) gives water and sewer infrastructure a grade of D- and estimates there is a current funding shortfall nationwide of $108 billion. Wyoming municipalities have traditionally relied on state and federal grants to address a large part of these needs, but as those sources shrink, how will local governments catch up and stay ahead of the curve in the future?
StepWise Utility Advisors specializes in strategic financial planning and rates for local utilities. This presentation will provide you with tangible, implementable solutions to reduce reliance on shrinking grant sources and start addressing the gaps proactively while being mindful of issues surrounding affordability and community acceptance.
